We've made a round of performance improvements so the app feels snappier, especially on your first visit.

What changed

  • Quicker startup β€” the app now loads less upfront and defers things you don't need right away, so you get to your games faster
  • Faster images β€” game cover art and screenshots load more efficiently and appear sooner
  • Smaller downloads β€” we've reduced the amount of data your browser needs to download on each visit

Love Afterplay? Share it with a friend and you'll both get rewarded with free premium time.

How it works

  • Share your link β€” find your unique referral link in Settings > Referral, and share it with friends via Twitter/X, Reddit, Discord, or any messaging app
  • They sign up and add a game β€” when your friend creates an account and adds their first game, you both earn 7 days of premium
  • Keep referring β€” every friend who joins earns you another 7 days, stackable up to a full year of premium
  • Track your progress β€” see how many friends you've referred and how many days you've earned in your referral settings

You can now copy an in-game save from one game to another in your library.

What's new

  • Copy in-game saves β€” transfer your save data to another game from the save menu. Useful when an updated version of a game comes out or when migrating from a demo to the full version

See how much you've been playing with the new Stats page.

Stats page

The new Stats tab gives you a full picture of your gaming activity:

  • Total playtime and games played
  • Most played games ranked with playtime bars
  • Playtime by platform breakdown
  • Activity heatmap β€” a visual grid showing your daily activity over the past year
  • Current streak and longest streak
  • Recent sessions with game name, duration, and time ago

Per-game stats

Open the in-game menu and go to the Stats tab to see stats for the game you're playing β€” total playtime, session count, average session length, current session time, and recent session history.

We're building a game store into Afterplay. We're working with publishers to bring their games to the platform β€” playable instantly in your browser or app.

What to expect

  • Video trailers β€” watch gameplay right on the game page
  • Reviews & ratings β€” rate games and see what others think
  • Cross-platform purchases β€” buy on web or iOS, play anywhere

Games from our first publishers will be available soon. If you're a developer or publisher interested in selling on Afterplay, get in touch.

Nintendo DS online multiplayer is here. Play DS games online with friends using Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection (WFC).

Save state compatibility

To support online play, the DS emulator now uses an updated BIOS. This means existing save states may not load with the new BIOS.

If you're affected, here's what to do:

  1. Go to Settings -> BIOS and click Install Legacy BIOS in the Nintendo DS section
  2. Load your save state with the legacy BIOS
  3. Save your progress in-game (not a save state)
  4. Change your save settings to Latest In-Game Save and open the game to confirm it loads correctly
  5. Remove the legacy BIOS and set your save settings back to whatever you prefer

Your in-game saves are not affected β€” only save states created with the old BIOS.
