Choose which emulator core to use for each platform.
Overview
Different emulator cores have different strengths. Some prioritize accuracy while others prioritize performance. Core Selection lets you choose which core to use as your default for each platform.
Accessing Core Selection
Go to Settings > Cores to see all platforms and their available cores.
How It Works
Each platform shows:
- The platform name (e.g., Game Boy Advance)
- Number of cores available
- A dropdown to select your preferred core
Your selection becomes the default for all games on that platform. You can reset to the default core at any time.
Choosing a Core
When multiple cores are available, consider:
- Accuracy - Some cores emulate hardware more precisely, important for games that rely on specific timing or behavior
- Performance - Some cores run faster, useful on lower-powered devices
- Features - Some cores support additional features like enhanced resolution or widescreen hacks
Per-Game Override
While Core Selection sets your platform default, you can also choose a different core for individual games in the game menu.
